Rose Wilson has been a practicing artist for 15 years after completing studies at East Sydney Tech, Darwin University and Newcastle University acquiring her BAVA in 1995. Wilson has had extensive exhibitions in Darwin, Newcastle, Sydney, Melbourne and regional Victoria receiving prizes, awards and a considerable amount of commissions.

“Moving up North was the turning point in my art where symbolism became a major factor in constructing each work, which formed the basis of my artistic expression. Living in East Arnhem Land, for 2 years was an amazing experience and one I will always cherish, giving me the insight of story telling through art.

Nine years ago Wilson moved to Regional Victoria in the Hepburn shire
 where she works tirelessly in her studio, which overlooks Mt. Macedon.
 Her recent exhibition of aboriginal oil sketches was a huge success but 
her fascination for Australian bush is also on the agenda.

Wilson has had countless success with her art over the years and even though her work has varied considerably, from colourful still life to powerful oil sketches, there are key elements that remains quite evident in her artwork, and that is the use of vibrant colour, symbolism and her 
unique textural surfaces that have become her trademark over the years.

The Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes is an annual exhibition eagerly anticipated by artists and audiences alike. It never ceases to create lively debate amongst the arts community and wider public.

Each year, the trustees of the Art Gallery of NSW judge the Archibald and Wynne Prizes, and invite an artist to judge the Sulman Prize (in 2012, it is Susan Norrie).

The Archibald Prize is one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious art prizes. It’s awarded to the best portrait painting, preferentially of some man or woman distinguished in art, letters, science or politics.

The Wynne Prize is awarded to the best landscape painting of Australian scenery, or figure sculpture, while the Sulman Prize is given to the best subject painting, genre painting or mural project in oil, acrylic, watercolour or mixed media.

Nuffield Australia awards Scholarships each year to farmers in Australia. The objective is to increase practical farming knowledge and management skills and techniques generally. These scholarships give Australian citizens the opportunity to study farming practices in New Zealand, Europe, Asia and the Americas and those countries best suited to the Scholar. They will also promote a closer understanding between farmers in the countries visited.

Mojo Motorcycles needed a television commercial that would target the rural customer. When approached by Marketing Manager, Sophia Nolan, we were keen to give the CF moto brand the Wmedia workover. The project included 4 on location shoots, and many hours of editing and motion graphics, and we were delighted with the outcome. The advertisement passed classification without any hitches, and got a rating that was appropriate for its time slots. Wmedia also had great pleasure in getting the TVC aired in Albury first. We dont think it looks like your typical rural ad, but then again, Mojo Motorcycles is a national importer of motorcycles and ATVs, so we wanted reflect a national standard. The ad will be aired all over Australia, starting with Queensland, Victoria and NSW, then WA.

About the Project

Facing Australia is a nationally acclaimed photographic project working to engage remote, regional and metropolitan communities through a creative community engagement process. Facing Australia has grown to become one of Australia’s premier photographic projects.

Facing Australia presents key demographic data in a way that pure statistics is unable to do. This project photographically transforms ABS census data into visual portraits that represent the ‘typical’ face of a specific remote, regional or metropolitan community. Underpinned by both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies this project combines demographic statistics with digital photography in a unique and powerful manner.

This project is significant because it is a unique collaboration between two disparate and often quite unrelated disciplines. The outcomes of the project offer each discipline the opportunity to build upon, interpret and contribute to existing and new knowledge.

Specifically within an art context the project extends and challenges the use of digital technologies and contributes to the interpretation and portrayal of the nation’s identity in the 21st century and beyond. Within a scientific context the project constructs a unique conduit for the visualisation of critical meta-population statistics in a manner that allows them to be viewed and accessed uniquely. This project creates a new way of understanding the statistical representation of key social, economic and cultural data.

This project is important because it has been constructed at a time when the cultural and national identify of the Australian nation is under the greatest level of public scrutiny since World War II. Facing Australia can be seen as a key visual social document: contributing to the national archive so as to inform generations to come on who we were in the early part of the 21st century.

When Wmedia was approached by the National Head Office of Kmart Tyre and Auto Service (KTAS) to produce a video for their 2011 National Conference in Canberra, we were extremely excited. This was a project to truly test our new equipment, including a new Canon broadcast quality camera. With over 1200 employees nationally, KTAS are the largest employer in the automotive service and repair industry and also the largest single employer of apprentice motor mechanics in Australia.

The 3 day event involved an evening launch dinner and speeches in the Parliament House Dining Hall, followed by a full day at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Auditorium. Dinner at the AIS included guest speaker Grant Hackett, and activities in the sporting halls.

The final day was held at the National Conference Centre and was full of guest speakers and motivational guidance, followed by dinner under a WWII Wirraway Bomber at the National War Memorial.

Wmedia filmed every moment of the conference, and edited the 3 days of footage to an 8 minute promotional video that captures the feel and essence of the event.

KTAS has recently launched a National Campaign focussing on Customer Service, and the conference was held to give KTAS Management an insight into leadership. KTAS are proud to train their people to new and higher industry benchmarks in both technical competence and service quality.

Dried & True Pty Ltd, a wholly Australian owned company has completed construction of its new pet treat drying facility at Howlong in southern NSW, increasing production capacity by 10 times.

Dried & True is owned by a local farming family who has been working in the pet food industry for over 25 years. The company has access to significant volumes of raw materials, with an established daily collection network covering over 25 of Australia’s largest abattoirs, sourcing over 100 tonnes of product per day. The new development expands the automated drying capacity to 850m3 of drying oven capacity – able to dry the equivalent of 200,000 pigs ears in a 24 hour period.

Dried & True currently distribute products under the brands “Aussie Pet Health Treat” and “The Healthy Pet Treat Co.” in Australian grocery chains and discount variety stores, and also manufacture private label pet treat products for a number of supermarket companies.
