When Wmedia was approached by the National Head Office of Kmart Tyre and Auto Service (KTAS) to produce a video for their 2011 National Conference in Canberra, we were extremely excited. This was a project to truly test our new equipment, including a new Canon broadcast quality camera. With over 1200 employees nationally, KTAS are the largest employer in the automotive service and repair industry and also the largest single employer of apprentice motor mechanics in Australia.

The 3 day event involved an evening launch dinner and speeches in the Parliament House Dining Hall, followed by a full day at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) Auditorium. Dinner at the AIS included guest speaker Grant Hackett, and activities in the sporting halls.

The final day was held at the National Conference Centre and was full of guest speakers and motivational guidance, followed by dinner under a WWII Wirraway Bomber at the National War Memorial.

Wmedia filmed every moment of the conference, and edited the 3 days of footage to an 8 minute promotional video that captures the feel and essence of the event.

KTAS has recently launched a National Campaign focussing on Customer Service, and the conference was held to give KTAS Management an insight into leadership. KTAS are proud to train their people to new and higher industry benchmarks in both technical competence and service quality.

Wmedia would like to thank Irene Fataconi, National HR Manager of KTAS for the opportunity to be part of such a massive project. Thoroughly enjoyable job!

Dried & True Pty Ltd, a wholly Australian owned company has completed construction of its new pet treat drying facility at Howlong in southern NSW, increasing production capacity by 10 times.

Dried & True is owned by a local farming family who has been working in the pet food industry for over 25 years. The company has access to significant volumes of raw materials, with an established daily collection network covering over 25 of Australia’s largest abattoirs, sourcing over 100 tonnes of product per day. The new development expands the automated drying capacity to 850m3 of drying oven capacity – able to dry the equivalent of 200,000 pigs ears in a 24 hour period.

Dried & True currently distribute products under the brands “Aussie Pet Health Treat” and “The Healthy Pet Treat Co.” in Australian grocery chains and discount variety stores, and also manufacture private label pet treat products for a number of supermarket companies.

The Kangaroo Hoppet is the largest international snowsports event in the Southern Hemisphere and returned to Falls Creek for its 21st year on Saturday August 27, 2011.

The Kangaroo Hoppet is Australia’s premier long distance cross country ski race, and a member of the prestigious Worldloppet series of international cross country ski events. Worldloppet is a union of the most famous cross country ski races in the world attracting over 50,000 skiers annually. Worldloppet races are held each year in Austria, Italy, Germany, Japan, Canada, USA, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, France, Norway, Estonia, the Czech Republic and Australia.

A big congratulations to the first skier across the line, Petr Novak from the Czech Republic, making it the third time in the event’s 21 year history that a Czech skier has won. Double Australian Winter Olympian Esther Bottomley was the first woman home in the 30km, making it back-to-back Hoppet victories for the home-grown Mt Beauty skier.

Wmedia is very proud to have once again participated in the promotion of this world class event creating poster and postcard artwork which have been distributed all over the globe.

Thanks to Mr Allan Marsland (Race Director) for being a fabulous client and an enthusiastic ambassador for the Kangaroo Hoppet.

After many hours of hard work, and the endless compliance constraints from Apple, we had our first iPhone App approval come through. The early morning push notification from iTunes Connect came as a surprise, as many 1st time apps are rejected.

Our client, scootersales.com.au requested us to produce an iPhone app that takes their content from a very media intensive website, and convert it for mobile consumsion. They have all the social networking from twitter, facebook, youtube and flickr, and we needed to package all this information into an app including their news and reviews.

Wmedia produced the app in 100% house. We are flash experts, using Adobe Flash to produce rich, interactive material for the web, so taking on app development seemed like the next step since flash has been labelled a dying technology (HTML5 will drive flash out they say… we will see). Along comes Xcode, many cups of coffee and late nights, and voilà!!! We had the app approved first up (Apple rejects many first time submissions for failing to comply with many technical aspects of app development).

We’ve built in push notifications, so that we can directly market to people who have the iPhone app, even when the app is not running. This gives our clients a direct marketing tool, to push specials/deals/announcements to the phone screen. Push notifications are managed by wmedia, and we can instantly push a campaign ad to all holders of the app instantly. Think of the benefits of target marketing your client in such a direct way, be it a special on restaurant meals, happy hours, product specials, or discount announcements.

You can download the app here New Australian Scooter App for the iPhone/iPod bit.ly/jbHiCU and Android bit.ly/lUu3Gs Check them out!

We’re already working on final stages of V.1.1 which will have advertising for select clients, taking the app user directly to specials and deals.

Wmedia is happy to quote on app development, and have the ability to produce your mobile apps for iPhone, Android and Windows mobile (and soon blackberry). We can bundle your app with a push notification deal (include an agreed amount of messages) and even set you up with feeding content from your website directly to your app…

Wmedia has just invested in updating our video gear and combined production with a new website for Goes ATV Australia www.goesatv.com.au

We found that our skills in editing and post production needed to be complimented with better front end video footage. Most Digital SLR cameras do ‘high def’ now, but we didn’t want to rely on the poor exposure, focus issues and erratic colour balances from DSLR’s so we procured a new Canon broadcast quality camera to collect our footage. This new camera compliments our Digital SLR and allows us to do better high def video footage for our Albury, Wodonga and Metropolitan clients.

Once we’ve collected our video footage, we use professional editing software, not iMovie that comes with every Mac computer for free. We invest in training on high end non-linear editing software systems including final cut pro, and apple motion for digital motion graphics.

Take a look at some of our sample videos on our youtube and vimeo channels.

THE DUTCHIE
The Mojo Dutchie has been hand sculptured from the original Dutch bicycle developed in the late 18th century. The Mojo Dutchie carries over classic styling with the traditional step through frame, fully enclosed metal chain guard, classic guarded wheels, curved handle bars, authentic leather grips and an elegant sprung leather seat providing the rider both comfort and style with a relaxed riding position. To bring the Dutchie forward into the 21st century, Mojo Bike have added a 3 speed Shimano rear hub with internal rear brake to make hills a breeze and still keep the traditional lines and styling of the original Dutch Bike. Up front they have added an internal Shimano front brake, again to keep the clean lines and boost safety so you will have no problems pulling up. The Dutchie also comes with a mechanically driven headlight and optional cane basket up front.

ABOUT MOJO BIKE

ABOUT FRANKIE MAGAZINE
Back when it all began, frankie magazine founders editor Louise Bannister and
creative director Lara Burke could think of nothing better than spending their
days op shopping and drinking cups of tea. (They still can’t – some things never
change.) One day, they put together a plan to start a magazine. They were uninspired
with what was being offered on newsagency shelves and felt nothing could relate to
them. Both firm friends with similar tastes, they wanted a magazine that spoke directly
to the reader, contained great affordable fashion, sweet art, interesting reads and
pretty photography. With the support and encouragement of youth lifestyle publishing
house Morrison Media, their dream became a reality. Three years later, when Louise
wanted to go off overseas on a big adventure, the duo called up their friend Jo Walker,
who had written for frankie from the first issue. Jo agreed to move back to Australia
and take over the tea-drinking duties from Louise. She is now editor and still works
with co-founder and creative director Lara Burke. Back from her overseas jaunt,
Louise now works on special frankie projects in the role of assistant publisher.
They all enjoy scones, crafting and mid-90s indie rock.

Take a look at the site www.frankie.com.au or better still buy the magazine it’s brilliant!

When you think about Graphic Design in Albury Wodonga, you’d probably not expect that Wmedia is doing work for Metropolitan areas throughout Australia.

We were approached by Melbourne based motorcycle importers, Mojo Motorcycles, to design a brochure for one of their newest products, the CF MOTO CF500 ATV. Our association with Sydney based scootersales.com.au has given us the reputation to be reliable and quick on the delivery of advertising solutions for many brands including Vespa, Piaggio, TGB, Daelim, Aprilia and CF Moto, so it was fitting that Mojo Motorcycles approached us for graphic design.

Not only did we design the brochure, we were actually required to rebrand the ATV model because it came with a sticker that didn’t suit the Australian market. The ATV industry in Australia is mainly limited to recreational and agricultural, due to tough laws prohibiting the use in state forests, so the ATV needed to be branded towards the target market of the rural user (primarily Honda and Yamaha traditionalists).

We came up with a design for a new decal, and we produced the in-house for the first shipment of the ATV’s, and sent the artwork to the CF Moto factory for all future manufacturing.

Timely delivery of services such as this project, has given us the reputation as being one of Albury Wodonga’s finest creative and advertising agencies.

Among the highlights is the launch of a new youth card at the Retro Youth Café on Wednesday 6 April at 4.00pm.

The Youth Cards are designed to give young people easy access to information about local youth support services.

The Get Connected card was inspired by feedback from the 2009 Youth Forum, which identified gaps in young people’s knowledge of local support services.

AlburyCity Youth Development Officer, Mandy Wilson says it also includes discount offers from local businesses including All Music, Total Driving, Spice, the Full Cycle and many more.

“We’re hoping that the discounts will encourage young people to keep this card in their wallets, so it will be close by if they need support, or need to link a friend to support.”

The card will be distributed to local schools and key youth service providers after being officially launched today at the Retro Café at 4.00pm.
